SWA Peru 2015 Mission Trip

For the month of November, I plan to post a short story or slideshow every day about our recent trip to Peru. Too much happened during our 9 days to tell about in just a post or two, so I am breaking it up and blogging every day for November instead of doing a "I'm thankful for..." post in November.

For the past several years, I have done a gratitude post every day of November. Although I find that tradition very fulfilling, I think detailing our trip will keep the sense of gratitude present throughout November for me.  I was overcome with the realization of our blessings again and again during our trip.

For those of you reading this who don't know, September 27-October 5 my daughter, Abbi, 14, my dear friend Rhonda, along with her daughter, Mackenzie, 15, and I participated in the 7th Annual Southwest Airlines Peru Mission trip. Although the mission is not sponsored by Southwest Airlines, the group of volunteers are primarily Southwest Airline employees. In our group of 19, there were four people in attendance that don't work for Southwest. Most of the employees are flight attendants, with the exception of one cargo agent from New Orleans, and the leader/organizer is a flight attendant supervisor.

I hope you enjoy reading about our memories. This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and my favorite trip that I have ever taken. As the month goes on, I am drawing experiences from over 1100 pictures I took, and a travel journal that our group of four all contributed to throughout the week. Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow!
